Reviews are opinions, not verified fact
The Entropy score is our own, evidence-backed assessment — the Tomatometer, in Rotten Tomatoes terms. Reviews are the audience's opinions — the Popcornmeter. We host them; we don't write, verify, or endorse them, and they never factor into a company's Entropy score. These guidelines exist so that hosted opinion stays useful and fair to read, for buyers and vendors alike.
What's not allowed
- ▸Fake or incentivized reviews: Don't post a review of a company you haven't actually used, and don't accept payment, discounts, free products, or any other compensation in exchange for a review — or for leaving out something negative — without disclosing it in the review itself. This mirrors the FTC's 2024 rule on fake reviews and testimonials.
- ▸Harassment or abuse: Reviews that target an individual rather than the company, or that use threatening, hateful, or abusive language.
- ▸Off-topic content: Content unrelated to your actual experience with the company's product, service, or security posture.
- ▸Conflicts of interest: Reviewing your own employer, a close competitor, or any company you have an undisclosed financial relationship with.
- ▸Unsupported factual claims: Specific factual allegations (e.g. a named breach or legal finding) stated as fact without any basis you could point to if asked.
Vendor responses
A claimed vendor can publicly respond to a review of its own company. A response is always labeled "Response from [Company Name]" — it's the company's own statement, not verified by Entropy and never presented as an independent review or an Entropy staff comment.
Reporting a review
Every review has a "Report this review" control. Reporting sends it to our moderation queue for a human admin to review — we don't act automatically, and we don't notify the reviewed company that a report was filed until (and unless) we actually remove the review. An admin either dismisses the report, leaving the review untouched, or removes the review if it violates these guidelines.
Appeals
If your review was removed and you believe that was a mistake, or if you believe a review about your company should have been removed and wasn't, email security@entropy.com with a link to the review and a short explanation. We review appeals in good faith but aren't obligated to reverse a decision without new information.
